Picket Fence
Origin
A picket fence style has been around since the America’s earliest colonial era. Yet it remains popular even today. Pickets were historically sharpened logs used to defend positions used by early colonists. Today though they are a decorative way to contain pets and children without blocking views. They are used for both the front and back yards. Traditionally these fences were made out of wood and painted white (or whitewashed). Now however these fences are mostly available in polyvinyl chloride (PVC). So when you start considering this fence option, you’ll also find that there is a growing number of low-maintenance options like vinyl, metal and wooden options.
